A central part of the contract enables BioDot to distribute Scienion products in North America. The cooperation further includes the generation of new products based on joining specific proprietary technologies present in BioDot’s BioJet Plus and Scienion’s sciFLEXARRAYER products. With its joined expertise, this unique alliance provides the optimal basis to best address the growing demands for miniaturization and automation in liquid handling technologies and is able to create fast and flexible solutions for applications in the fields of biosensors, biochips, proteomics and functional genomics.
Tom Tisone, CEO BioDot, Inc. comments: “We are totally focused on providing state-of-the-art products to meet the exact requirements of diagnostic test producers. The sciFLEXARRAYER fits perfectly into our product portfolio and I expect a growing demand for this precise, user-friendly and flexible system in the US market.” The sciFLEXARRAYER piezoelectrically driven dispensing system allows the aspiration of ultra low level liquid volumes from different reservoirs and contact-free micro drop delivery in the picoliter range onto a variety of substrates.
Holger Eickhoff, CEO of Scienion AG, states: “For Scienion, the access to the North American market is a milestone in the expansion strategy of our company. As the leading supplier of dispensing systems for both, R&D and manufacturing BioDot is the perfect distribution partner for us in this market and we are very happy about this new and promising cooperation.”
SCIENION AG is a Berlin-based life science company offering complete solutions in the field of parallel bioanalytics. Customers include pharma and biotech companies as well as academic research institutions. Founded in December 2000 as a spin-off of the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics, the company was originally focused on biochip platform technologies. With the successful launch of the sciFLEXARRAYER dispensing system in 2003, the company´s focus has been switched to hardware. The sciFLEXARRAYER allows the aspiration of ultra low level liquid volumes from different reservoirs and contact-free micro drop delivery in the picoliter range onto a variety of carriers. Today, Scienion represents a rapidly growing company, well positioned in the field of ultra low level liquid handling systems including applications in genomics, proteomics and high throughput.
